June 27th marked the end of a wonderful week and 2nd edition of the Constanta International Conducting Masterclass, with wonderful new conductors, coming to learn and absorb new techniques from Gaddiel Dombrowner. They worked with the great and patient players of the Constanta State Opera. This week of the masterclass ended with a very successful final concert, where all conductors received a standing ovation from an overwhelemed audience who came to hear the young conductors.
The repertoire of the masterclass exhibited a full range of styles:
Brahms | Symphony No. 4 in E minor, Op. 98
Verdi | “La forza del destino”, Overture
Mozart | “Die Zauberflote”, K. 621, Overture
Rossini | “L’italiana in Algeri”, Overture
Beethoven | “Egmont” Overture, Op. 84
Puccini | from “La Boheme” : “Si, mi chiamano Mimi”
Verdi | from “Un Ballo in Maschera” : “Alzati… Eri tu!”
Verdi | from “Rigoletto” : “Mio padre! Dio, mia Gilda!” (Duet finale act II)

The conductors chosen to participate at the 2025 masterclass were:
Tatiana Babut de Mures (Belgium)
Albert Baulies (Spain)
Eliott Beer (Switzerland)
Luke Thomas Berringer (USA)
Chris Pamela Childs (Australia/UK)
Yan Huang (China)
Igor Martinez (Venezuela)
Sean Radermacher (USA)
Qi Wang (China)
Each of the participants received daily masterclass with Gaddiel Dombrowner, 90 minutes of podium time in total and performed in the final concert. This summer we had 9 conductors participating as active conductors, compared to 8 at the first edition, showing a increasing interest in the masterclass but eventually it was decided to limit next editions to 8 conductors only, so Gaddiel can focus better on each of the active conductors.
I would also like as always to thank the wonderful Constanta State Opera Orchestra for their wonderful work, patience and support for the conductors. They were just amazing and made this masterclass an amazing experience for everyone! Thank you and see you in 2026 for the 3rd edition!
