Gaddiel wins competition in Athens!

05/06/2021

From May 29th until June 4th, the 3rd Athens Masterclass and competition took place in Athens with the Athens Philharmonia Orchestra under the teaching of Maestro Michalis Economou, one of the most distinguished and successful young Greek conductors of today.

13 participants were chosen, out of more than 100 applications, from all over the world: Italy, France, Canada, Germany, Slovenia, Brazil and of course Israel. During a week Gaddiel conducted the orchestra and rehearsed various works as Beethoven Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Mozart Symphony No. 36 in C Major, Mahler’s Adagietto from Symphony No. 5 and Tchaikovsky Serenade for Strings in C Major.

At the concert Gaddiel conducted Mahler’s Adagietto at a live streamed concert with no audience because of Covid restrictions. At the final events the winner was announced and Gaddiel received the 1st prize given to only one conductor by the orchestra.
Gaddiel is invited to conduct next season a season concert with the Athens Philharmonia Orchestra. (Update: Concert is set to be in early February 2022)

Thank you to the APO for their wonderful playing and to Maestro Economou for his wonderful guidance and teaching during this week. Those are definitely exciting news after a long period of complete stop of concert due to the COVID era.
Gaddiel is very much looking forward to come back to Athens to make wonderful music with APO once more!
